Brown’s Excavating, Inc. (BEI) has dug, dredged, blasted, pounded, and built its way into the general contracting business.  Located in Friendly, WV – on the Ohio River between Wheeling and Parkersburg - the family – owned business has built its reputation on meeting the diverse and ever evolving needs of its customers.

Founded by the late Charles Brown Jr. and his wife Ruby in 1955, BEI started out digging basements for residential housing during the housing boom of the 50’s.  In 1959 it expanded into industrial maintenance working primarily for Union Carbide Corp.

Today BEI continues to serve its industrial and commercial  clients throughout Ohio, West Virginia, Pennsylvania, and Delaware offering a full range of services including site development, underground utilities, landfill remediation, water blasting, painting, hazardous waste clean-up, lead abatement, as well as general contracting.   For more than 50 years BEI has prided itself on meeting and exceeding the needs of its loyal customers.  The family strives to uphold the tradition that Charles Brown and his wife Ruby started years ago.

“It’s all about family” said Eric Brown, president of BEI.  There are four generations of Browns involved in the company, Eric’s wife, Sandy, works in the office along with daughter-in-law, Michelle Brown.  Eric’s children; Charles, Brian, and Debbie work in the field, and the newest member - grandson Charles Hayden at 14 weeks old, has been coming to the office since he was two weeks old.  “He doesn’t do much yet but we have a place for him when he’s ready to start work” stated Eric.   For more information on Brown’s Excavating, you can contact them by phone at (304) 652-2842.
